Members of the newly formed Nottingham Rowing Club were joined by colleagues from the Nottingham & Union Club on Friday, August 10th for an afternoon of training led by Tom Kay from Concept2 and Maxine Tompkins from Djanogly City Academy.
The aim was to introduce experienced indoor rowers to different ways of using the machines and make exercise interesting for youngsters.
A whole range of games were used including Ergo Golf! Rowers were interested and enthused with this new approach to Indoor Rowing and could see great possibilities as they prepare to move into local schools and set up Indoor Rowing Clubs in late September.
The Local Network Fund for Children and Young People is to fund coaching in local schools and this Training Afternoon was part of the groundwork for the project.
Rowing Club President Keith Atkinson said We want to reach out to pupils turned off by traditional Team Games. If you cant catch or strike a ball then this is for youget fit and strong whilst sitting down!
